My name is Catherine Chester, but I am generally known as 'Cat' to friends, family and colleagues. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a bit more about myself. I strive to offer a very professional service, but I also believe that being able to provide the friendly and personal approach really does make all the difference to my clients.
I was born and raised just north of Manchester in England and have lived there all my life. As a native English speaker, I take great pride in the correct use of our English language and being able to help others do the same.
I was educated at a local Grammar School, so I was very lucky to have all the necessary support around me to do very well in my exams, including a grade 'A' in both English Language and English Literature. I also went on to study my 'A' Levels at college.
Further to my college education, I decided to pursue my passion for all things equestrian. I achieved a Diploma in Equine Science and Horse Husbandry and enjoyed every minute of being 'at school' in the middle of a field, up to my knees in mud.
My main occupation since leaving education has been with an Estate Agency, where I have worked for the same company for many years valuing properties and bringing them to the market. Being able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English has been extremely valuable to me during my career in this field.
I have a life long love for animals and have my own 'Chester Zoo' at home, consisting of horses, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, an African Grey parrot and a variety of aquatic creatures. They provide a perfect getaway from the day to day routine. You might have noticed one or two photos of my furry family on this page! My two horses are called Daizi and Tara, my two dogs are called Oscar and Winston and I don't have enough space here to name all the rabbits.
I am also a self confessed bookworm who is never too far away from a paperback or Kindle.
Having a keen eye for detail makes it very easy for me to spot the slightest mistake in any and all text that I read. I find it incredibly frustrating when a builder advertises that 'no job is to small' or a cafe sign that reads 'Bettys Butties'. In my opinion, being able to deliver that perfect first impression is vital in all walks of life.
This is why I decided to turn my love of reading and my perfectionist way with English into a career.
I went on to study with the Blackford Centre College and gained a Diploma in proofreading and copy editing to ensure that I had all the necessary tools that I would need for the work. This, coupled with my general 'OCD' for words, has set me up very nicely for the work which I now do.
